Ex-international, Folorunsho Okenla has warned the Super Eagles that they will underestimate the Syli Stars of Guinea at their peril in the African Cup of Nations Cup crucial qualification match in Abuja.
Speaking in Lagos,Okenla now a sports management consultant , maintains the Sylla Stars could prove tougher than expected, despite their low FIFA ranking of 76. He said that Guinea have proved difficult in past games against Nigeria and reminded all how the game ended in the World Cup qualifier in Lagos in 1997, when the two countries played in the same group.
“Guineans have got great belief in themselves anytime they play Nigeria. There is a superb spirit in the team and they won’t be over-powered that easily playing against Eagles in front of our home fans. Guinea have got a lot of strength, they have pace and are not shy at pushing attackers forward, and I know they will be good to watch.
“If you look at our current record, you notice these Guineans are used to playing in front of huge crowds away, I look at them as superstars in their own way, and the Eagles are going to get into trouble if they underestimate them, that’s for sure however, if we put our acts together we will have the day and last smile,” he added.
