UGHELLI—HRM Agboavwe Oyise 11, has been coronated as the new Odion of Uwheru Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, following the dethronement of the former king, Chief Clifford Adade, by a Delta State High Court sitting in Warri.
It will be recalled that Chief Adade was removed by the state high court on July 26, 2011 after a 22-year litigation over the kingship tussle.
At the coronation , which was attended by descendants and friends of the kingdom, the ‘Otota’ (spokesman) of the kingdom, Chief Emuefe Igberedjor, said the ceremony was in line with the custom and tradition of the people of the kingdom.
Igberedjor said the people of the kingdom were known for their peaceful disposition and described the ascendance of HRM Oyise 11 as the Odion of the kingdom as divine.
He congratulated the monarch on his coronation and prayed God to enthrone enduring peace in the kingdom with his emergence as the ‘Odion’ of the kingdom.
He urged sons and daughters of the kingdom to grace the formal coronation ceremony slated for October 8, 2011 enmasse.
In a Chat with newsmen shortly after the ceremony, HRM Oyise II, thanked God for his victory at the court and promised to rule the kingdom with the fear of God.
While thanking the people of the kingdom for their support throughout the period of the litigation, he assured that he will carry every citizen of the kingdom along in the governance of the kingdom.
