As part of its corporate social responsibility, Simon Page Business School has organised a one-day training for journalists who report marketing and brands in particular and business in general. Tagged Marketing Essentials Workshop, the programme held at the institute’s office in Magodo, Lagos on Tuesday 20 September with about twenty-five print and electronic journalists in attendance.
The management of Simon Page Business School reckoned that journalists who report marketing and brand issues will be able to analyse situations more effectively and therefore write better stories if they have a good understanding of fundamental marketing concepts. To this effect, the programme was designed to enable these journalists to begin to deepen reporting content and hence improve their quality of writing and by extension contribute to improvement of practices within the industry.
According to Princewill Omorogiuwa, the Institute’s Chief Executive Officer, the aims of the workshop are to deepen the understanding of the fundamental concepts of marketing, to enable better evaluation of the marketing decisions, to appreciate the dynamism in today’s complex business environment, and to familiarise delegates with the tools used for marketing analytics. He explained that the workshop content will provide the participants with basic marketing tools to analyse situations and enquire more for a broader view of issues prior to reporting.
Simon Page Business School is the leading accredited study for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK qualifications in Nigeria. It provides tuition and support for those studying for the CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing, Professional Certificate in Marketing, Professional Diploma in Marketing, Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing as well as the CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications.
