OSOGBO-As civil servants in Osun State resume work today  following the suspension of their five-week old strike over the implementation of N18, 000 minimum wage, a member of the House of Representatives, Mr.  Rotimi Makinde, has assured workers in the state public service of improved conditions of service during the tenure of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Fielding questions from journalists after the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, announced the suspension of the industrial action, Makinde called on the labour unions to allow for dialogue as opposed to confrontation in their dealings with Governor Aregbesola on all issues.

He described the Osun State Governor as a worker-friendly leader whose track record in public service showed him as a welfarist activist whose sole pursuit had always been the his major concern.

Citing the good intentions demonstrated by the governor in conceding to paying the least paid worker N19,012.95 as minimum wage in Osun State, the federal legislator noted that this development has signposted the government as worker-friendly.

“Governor Rauf Aregbesola has demonstrated his love for the welfare of workers by this landmark agreement his administration reached with workers. I call on all workers to give maximum support to his administration by increasing their level of productivity and commitment to faithful implementation of the programmes and policies of his administration”, Makinde pleaded further.
