BENIN CITY — kidnappers who abducted a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Elder Tes Sorae, last Sunday, yesterday made contact with the family members, demanding N100 million as ransom.
The PDP chieftain who also is the Chairman/Managing Director of Tomline Industrial Company Limited, was abducted when he arrived from Church, after the armed men killed four persons including his wife, Bridget.
Others who were killed during the attack included his two police orderlies and a driver while their daughter who was also hit by the bullet, is currently in a critical situation at the hospital.
Vanguard learnt that the PDP chieftain spoke to his family when the kidnappers contacted.
Kidnapped Edo FA member released
Meanwhile, Mr Ikpomwonsa Edebiri, a member of Edo State Football Association, who was kidnapped last Friday, along Warri-Sapele road, while on his way to Benin to watch the semi final match between Eyimba and Ocean Boys football clubs has been released.
Edebiri who narrated his ordeal to Vanguard, yesterday, after he left hospital, said he was abducted by seven armed men when their Hilux vehicle entered into a ditch.
He said: “We trekked for over seven hours inside the forest before we started contacting my people. The experience was horrible. The boys who are between 20-30 years complained that they were into the business due to hardship and lack of job in the country.
He said: “I thank God for saving me and I want to appeal to government at all levels to provide jobs for the youths because if these people have jobs they won’t involve themselves in such deals.”
