Labour leaders in Imo vow to continue strike

By CHIDI NKWOPARA
OWERRI- Leaders of labour unions in Imo State have vowed not to call off the current indefinite industrial action in the state until the Rochas Okorocha administration accepts to fully implement the N18,000 minimum wage.

State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Dr. Reginald Anyadike, made the position of labour known to journalists after superintending over a meeting of the expanded executive of the NLC in Owerri.

He said: “Government has only accepted to implement the minimum wage to workers on levels one to six. Labour is however insisting that all workers should benefit from the new minimum wage.”

It was the opinion of the Imo NLC boss that limiting the implementation of the new wage to the junior cadre is tantamount to attending to just a segment of the workforce.
