Ghana midfielderAnthony Annan has declared that they will go all out for victory in this weekend’s 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland on Friday in Accra. Annan, who plays for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem told Cafonline.com that they are poised for victory to boost their chances of qualification.
“We started training on Monday and we are looking forward to the game. The outcome of the game is very critical to our chances of qualification and we are preparing in that regard. It is very true we beat them 3-0 but that does not mean that they are a weak side. Every team that plays against Ghana redouble their efforts and we expect Swaziland to follow that trend. However, we are determined for victory and we will do our best to achieve our target.
“The outcome of the match is very crucial to our chances of qualifying for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. All we want is the three points, nothing short of that. We have the same point with Sudan (10-points) and this being our last home match; we need the maximum points to rema on course. Our last match is away to Sudan and the outcome of the Swaziland game will greatly have an impact on the final game”, added Annan.
Speaking on the choice of Accra for the match, Annan conceded that they would have preferred Kumasi, where they had played all their previous home games. He urged the fans to come out in their thousands to cheer the team to win.
“It is very true we have played all our matches in their qualification series in Kumasi, but Accra is no different. We have played in Accra in the past and have attained very good results. The venue is no factor at all. For us, the three points is the most important result we are aiming for. I’m appealing to the fans to throng the Accra Sports Stadium to rally behind us in our pursuit of victory. They have always been behind us I’m sure Friday will be no exception”, said Annan.
