Edo to make stiffer laws against kidnapping

By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—Following the recent killings and rising spate of kidnapping in the state, Majority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Philip Shuaibu, weekend, hinted that the House may amend the law on kidnapping in the state with a view to prescribing stiffer sanctions.

He noted, however, that the only solution to such problems was for government at all levels to create job opportunities for the youths, adding that the House may amend the law in the state due to the prevailing security situation in the state.
He also commended the Edo State Government for initiating bills that would encourage job creation and assured that the House would give the bill its desired backing.
