Youth Empowerment: Indomie strengthens partnership with SIFE

As part of its efforts towards alleviating poverty in the country, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Nigeria’s No. 1 children favourite meal, Indomie Instant noodles is into partnership with SIFE Nigeria, a global network for the empowerment and improvement of quality life and standard of living of people in communities around the world.

The empowerment project tagged “Indomie Buka” which worths about #11,000,000.00 (Eleven Million Naira) designed by Indomie in partnership with SIFE Nigeria and about 150 Indomie branded mobile carts are distributed to economically disadvantaged persons in 30 location in Nigeria, people who have no identifiable means of livelihood get a mini Mobile carts, cooking utensils, startup capital and adequate training on how to run and manage the business effectively.

Speaking at the flag off ceremony held in Lagos recently at EKO Le Meridian, the public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Temitope Ashiwaju explained that Indomie’s partnership with SIFE on this project is in line with its social responsibility to touch lives of its

consumers, empower, motivate them and alleviate poverty amongst Nigerians.

Ashiwaju disclosed that they did a need assessment in each location to determine the group of disadvantaged person’s best position to benefit from this initiative and identified a pool of 900 economically disadvantaged person across board.

He further said that 150 people were eventually selected and provided with the carts. “After a very rigorous assessment and interview, winners emerged from the best teams from different schools”. He said.

Tope Ashiwaju assured the beneficiaries that Dufil Prima Foods Plc and SIFE will not abandon them in this community empowerment project but will continue to monitor their progress and offer the necessary advisory services as at when needed to ensure the success of the beneficiaries.

He also added that they will work with the beneficiaries to ensure increased sales and profitability, customer relations and retention skills.

The country Director for SIFE Nigeria, Mrs. Adesuwa Ifedi, speaking at the Flag off ceremony, she said “SIFE Alumni have also come together to be part of a change movement which focuses on encouraging young Nigerians to become more solution oriented, the launch of “My Nigeria” project is a medium through which solutions to challenges faced by Nigerian youths can be achieved by their engagement in their communities”.
