LAGOS — The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, yesterday urged the general public to disregard any other result apart from the one released on August 10, 2011 on the Council’s result checkers website. This followed complaints of contradictory results posted on the council’s website.
In a statement, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr Y. D. Ari, said the West African Senior School Certificate Examination,WASSCE, May/June 2011 results were released with some pending/outstanding results. Subsequently, there was need to update some outstanding results.
He explained, however, that due to human error traced to some staff, the result update altered the already released results.
He said: “The Council wished to allay the fears of numerous stakeholders and assure them that WAEC does not ‘upgrade’ results as has been reported. The results remain as they were released on August 10, 2011.
“The Council has informed the public that the May/June 2011 WASSCE results can be accessed on the website or from the hard copies of results sent to schools. The Council also wished to state that the officers connected with the error would be appropriately sanctioned.”
