During the distribution, the Governor directed that nursing mothers, pregnant women and the aged should be attended to first. When some people raised issues about this, he told them it was part of the efforts encourage the people of the state to return to the old values of respect for the aged and compassion for the some category of people. The exercise witnessed a large turn-out. The Governor said that is was a pilot programme that would quickly be extended to all the Local Government Areas in the State.
One of the beneficiaries of the exercise who introduced herself as Mama Ify commended the Governor and appealed to him to extend the exercise to foodstuff. He said seeing the Governor drenched by the rain like any other person was touching.
