To overcome the challenge building professionals usually face while installing autoclave sidings, Messrs Nigerite Plc last week organised a training session for builders on techniques involved in proper installation of autoclave sidings in homes.

Speaking during the training, Osubor Dennis Afamefuna, an engineer who is the project manager, Nigerite Limited noted that proper installation of autoclave sidings has been a serious challenge to building professionals on site, hence the training session.

Afamefuna pointed out that frequent training will re-awaken professionals on what to do in their professions especially when it comes to installations in building construction. He said such training will help them provide solutions when dealings with clients.

Autoclave sidings, he explained, are a fibre cement product produced under high temperature and pressure by a system known as autoclaving which is 100 per cent free of asbestos and is environmental friendly.

Afamefuna said the sidings are designed for protection and decoration of facades, exterior and interior alike in building construction.

The sidings have high aesthetical value, enough strength that can withstand any weather condition and can be used to achieve curves and create architectural designs.

He told the trainees that because the sidings are lightweight materials, they do not require load resistance. “Autoclave sidings have several uses and applications.

It can be used on all wall surfaces and frames; it is faster to install compared to conventional wall finish. CSK self-drilling screw is required to install autoclave to fasten the sidings directly to the studs. It is suitable for galvanized steel stud members to offer easier drill and better grip strength’’, he said.

Okunola Kazeem, an engineer, thanked Nigerite for organising the training at no cost to the participants. He described the training was a welcome development in the construction industry as it will afforded participants the opportunity to understand all aspects of autoclave sidings installation.
