Ilorin: An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded one Isiaka Ibrahim of Odota, Ilorin, for allegedly abducting a married woman, Mrs Sabitiu Musa.
The accused was charged with a one-count charge of enticement of a married woman.
The offence, according to the prosecution, is punishable under the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria as applicable to Kwara State.
The husband of the woman, Mr Ahmed Musa, of Adabata, Ilorin, alleged that his wife left their matrimonial home with a six-month old baby girl to an unknown destination on July 29.
Police prosecutor Ernest Eniolohunda told the court that preliminary police investigation had shown that the accused person, being a customer to the woman, allegedly enticed her with money.
He alleged that as a result, she decided not to go to her husband’s house, and urged the court to remand the accused in police custody pending the completion of investigations.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Silifat Sambo, accepted the submission of the prosecutor and ordered the remand of the accused.
She adjourned the case to Aug. 24 for mention. (NAN)
