Investigate Mustapha’s claims – Agbeyegbe

Fred Agbeyegbe, lawyer, art activist, and humanist has called for the investigation of Al Mustapha’s claims on the Central bank of Nigeria saying it should not be swept under the carpet.

He said: “I have read some of the allegations that Al Mustapha made in court. They are indeed startling. I know some of the people he said were given money. I do not think the question of who got money is the only point. My surprise is that most of the reactions have been on one side of the allegations.

He said the former Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar took millions in different currencies from the Central Bank. If that is true, there must be some documents reflecting that type of transaction with the amount of money involved.

“I am calling for an investigation of transactions at the Central Bank during the period he mentioned to ascertain if that type of money was removed from the treasure. All the reactions so far have ignored this point.”
