Imo State Govt suspends FA, Imo United FC

The Imo State Government has suspended officials of the Imo State FA and Imo United following the ban placed upon them by the Nigerian Football Federation on the grounds of corruption in match fixing and financial impropriety. In a release made available to Sunday Vanguard Sports, the State Government has set up a five man committee to investigate the issue and advise it on the best action.

“The Nigerian Football Federation has drawn the attention of the Imo State Government that a ban has been placed on the Imo State Football Association and Imo United Football Club, based on allegations of corruption of match-fixing and financial impropriety.

“A five man committee has been set up to investigate the allegation and advised the Government accordingly. The Imo state Government has therefore suspended Proprietors and Officials of the affected clubs alleged to have been involved in the scam, pending conclusion of finds of the committee,” the release reads.
