Exporters of all regulated products in the country have been directed by the the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC) to get the Agengy’s certification for all export products.
Giving the directive during a workshop for courier companies, airlines, shipping companies and other stakeholders in Lagos, Director General of the Agency, Dr. Paul Orhii also said the export certification is free of charge.
“It is very important for them to know that it is mandatory for importers to give pre-shipment information to the Agency for importation of all pharmaceutical products.
The workshop was to enlighten on products regulated by the Agency and the pre-requisite for importation, exportation and clearance of these products.
He recalled that the mandate given to NAFDAC required importation and exportation of products regulated by the Agency to meet prescribed quality standards.
“We reason that if these products are rejected on the basis of no evidence of NAFDAC certification and observed irregularities, the fake products will not leave the borders, air and sea ports of these overseas countries for Nigeria.
“The Agency plays an important role in trade facilitation and has been working tirelessly to ensure that all related processes for the clearing of imports are automated to reduce the clearing time for regulated products at the ports and to offer timely service for those who need genuine assistance on regulatory issues.”
