BENIN CITY- FORMER Director, Army Finance Corps and governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Gen.Charles Arhiavbere (rtd), yesterday, described the death of the former military Vice-President, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, as a great loss to the military.
Gen.Arhiavbere, who declared this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Admiral, recalled the efforts made by the deceased to ensure the creation of Edo State and the developmental projects he attracted to the state and asserted that “it would be difficult to have another Augustus Aikhomu.”
He lamented that it was sad the incident occurred at a time the nation needed to tap from his vast experience, adding, however, that the “good legacies he left behind will help in assuaging the pains of the family”.
He was received at the family home of the Aikhomus in Irrua, by the elder brother of the deceased, Sir Alfred Aikhomu.
