DelSU doles out N2.5m scholarships

The authority of the Delta State University, Abraka, in conjunction with network service provider, Etisalat, doled out the sum of #2.460m to thirty-eight students of the institution to assist them in their educational pursuit.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eric A. Arubayi who presented checks to the beneficiaries stated that the scheme is aimed at encouraging scholarship as it was awarded to only best performing students of various faculties and departments that scored a minimum of 4.00 GPA, saying however that the institution also has in place workstudy programme to enable indigent student to work in the school and get paid while furthering their education.

The 2011 exercise is the second in the scholarship scheme in which more female students won over 70% of the total award in various disciplines. He therefore charged the males to wake up from their slumber and take their rightful place as the girls appears to be in the lead.

While charging the awardees to prudently manage the fund to assist them in procuring educational materials, the V-C reminded them to always put in their best academically to remain on top as anyone that drops out of the minimum acceptable level of performance automatically lost his scholarship privilege to others and thanked the management of Etisalat for assisting the University in this scholarship series.

The Delta State University gave out a total of 28 scholarship while Etisalat issued out 10 to deserving students.
