Flying Eagles coach, Sam Obuh who submitted the list of his final World Cup squad to FIFA, Friday has explained why he dropped the pair of Stanley Okoro, fondly called Little Messi and Aliyu Mohammed from the team going to Columbia.
Speaking from the team’s camp in Panama in a live telephone interview aired on sport radio, Brila fm. Obuh said that the players in question had visa problems that did not allow them meet up with the rest of the team before the FIFA deadline.
“I did not have enough time to assess them and I do not want to gamble like I did in South Africa. I could not assess them properly before the deadline and I must confess that I did not want a repeat of what we witnessed in South Africa where some players we took disappointed.” Obuh said.
He further explained why he picked Ramon Azeez despite being in the same problem. “Ramon is more dependable and I trust him. Of the three, he is a class above the others, that is why I picked him.”
Obuh expressed confidence in the squad he had picked saying that he needed the prayers of all Nigerians as they head for Columbia.
