Tribunal fixes July 14 for LP, Orji’s suit

BY Anayo Okoli
Umuahia— Abia State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has fixed Thursday, July 14, 2011, for pre-trial of the petition brought by the Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Stanley Ohajuruka against Governor Theodore Orji.

Ohajuruka is challenging the declaration of Chief Theodore Orji by INEC as  winner of the governorship election.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Mobolaji Ojo, while fixing the date, had ordered that lawyers to all the parties in the case be served pre-trial notices as prayed by the petitioner.

The tribunal had last month granted an application by Ohajuruka to serve Governor Theodore Orji and the PDP through substitution means as he claimed that they had been evading service.

The petitioner had claimed that his efforts to serve them in person had suffered setback, having been rebuffed, noting the timeliness of election petitions.
