Rivers State Information Commissioner, Mrs Ibim Semenitari heaved a big sigh of relief after the opening ceremony and declared; “now I can sleep”.

Truly, Semenitari and a host of others have denied themselves sleep, working to ensure that things go right during the opening ceremony and throughout the Sports Festival. She however has brought a feminine touch of caring, listening, attending and solving many problems, a situation that made Frank Ilaboya say that other Commissioners in Nigeria should come and learn from the ever-cheerful Ibim.

Her humility is amazing. Her smile disarms your anger. And her prompt solution to your problem makes you wonder if such services can be rendered by a Commissioner.

“You are talking of the opening ceremony. Wait for the closing ceremony. This spectacle will continue”, she said in appreciation of the deluge of congratulations and banters for the great works of the opening ceremony. “The Sports Festival is still on. We are more interested in the welfare of everybody, athletes, officials, Journalists, and the fans”.

Her phone rings and she jumps on her feet like Buffalo soldier dragging her assistants, who grumble over her workaholic nature to one of the venues scattered all over beautiful Garden City to ensure that all is well. Perhaps, her professional training as a Journalist has prepared her for this excellent service to her people and state.
