By Suzan Edeh, Bauchi
A 33 year-old man from Osun State has been arrested by the Bauchi State Security Service, (SSS) for impersonating as a staff of the Service. The suspect, Samalia Abdulsalam Hassan, was arrested by a security guard at the premises of the Nitel Repair Centre along Gombe road in Bauchi on the 14th of this month, while attempting to escape.

Parading the suspect before newsmen at the SSS headquarters, yesterday in Bauchi, the Assistant Director SSS, Mr.Olu Justin, said the suspect who claimed to be an electrician, has been parading himself as a member of the State Security Service for a very long time. He said the suspect forged a letter of appointment to convince people that he was a member of the State Security Service.

The Assistant Director advised members of the public not to deal with the suspect, saying that whoever does so, is doing that at his own risk. He said the suspect will soon be prosecuted in court very soon.

On his crime, t he suspect said , “One day, I came back from work and met my wife shouting at some people and when I enquired from her, she told me that some Sara suka boys were smoking Indian Hemp at the back of my house.

So, in order to intimidate them, I told them that I was a staff of the State Security Service. I even forged an appointment letter as a proof that I was a member of the service.” The suspect, who expressed regret for his actions, however, pleaded for forgiveness from the State Government, saying that he will never engage himself in such an act again.
