PDP can’t save Nigeria – ACN

BENIN—GOVERNORS of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, held their retreat in Benin City, Edo State, yesterday, with the leadership of the party, declaring that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lacked the ability to lead the nation to the promised land.

National leader of the party and former national chairman of the PDP, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who spoke while delivering a paper entitled The Essence of Party Supremacy in a Presidential System of Government, said that PDP found itself in the quagmire of zoning because the leadership of the party demonstrated “infidelity to its own principles and agreements” and that such a party does not have the ability to lead a country.

The governors at the retreat were, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole (Edo); Babatunde Fashola (Lagos); Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Ibikunle  Amosun (Ogun); and Mrs Grace Laoye-Comori, Deputy Governor of Osun State.

Chief Ogbeh said: “A party which seeks to lead a nation must display the capacity to order its own affairs and followers.

“The recent crisis in the ruling PDP shows clearly how a party can fail woefully in its bid to enforce supremacy when it clearly demonstrates infidelity to its own principles and agreements.

“It institutes zoning, pronounces it dead and then resurrects the ghost. By so doing, it lost its moral authority.”
Other leaders of the party at the retreat were national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, Niyi Adebayo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Lai Muhammed.

“If members have any cause to doubt the leaders and senior members of the party, then supremacy is threatened and disobedience becomes inevitable.  and failed to contain the inevitable revolt in the House of Representatives which it would otherwise have easily controlled.”
to survive, a party must have the authority to call its members to order, take a position and persuade its members to abide by that decision. Without that authority chaos ensues.
