THE leaders of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the East Senatorial Zone, have resolved to reposition the party for future challenges.
The leaders, under the aegis of Ogun East Elders Forum, in a statement Tuesday after a meeting in Ijebu-Ode,, said the party needed to move forward now that the dust raised by ministerial appointment had settled.
The statement by the group Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Agboola Alausa, said the decision was reached after the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Gbenga Ashiru, assured that while delivering on his mandate at the national level, he would work for the good of the state.
The party leaders said they resolved to collect a monthly subvention for each of the nine local governments in the zone.
The group frowned at activities of some estranged party members, saying “We make particular reference to those that have defected to other opposition parties but are still trying to cause trouble in the PDP. Reports reaching us indicate that these people are calling some illegal meetings without recourse to the appropriate party organs.”
