LAGOS — Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, said, weekend, it had concluded plans to meet with political parties and stakeholders in the forthcoming local government elections to brief them on election guidelines and plans for a hitch free and fair election in the state.
The parley, slated for tomorrow, at the commission’s headquarters, Yaba, will enable stakeholders deliberate on issues bothering on the election and enable candidates to get clarifications on grey areas of the October polls.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has commissioned two primary healthcare centres, PHCs, in Jakande Estate and Ona Iwa Mimo both in Ejigbo Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, as part of efforts to improve easy access to functional healthcare delivery in the area.
Commissioning the two PHCs, Adefulire commended the Ejigbo LCDA for the health centres, which, according to her, would complement efforts of the state government in the provision of quality healthcare services for its citizens. She added that it would also reduce infant maternal deaths in the area and the state at large.
She stressed that secondary healthcare centres would only be efficient and effective if the primary healthcare system handles common disease and infections so that the general hospitals can take care of more complicated cases.
