Lagos State House of Assembly, yesterday, continued with the on-going screening exercise of the 37 commissioner-nominees forwarded to it by Governor Babatunde Fashola, while urging the screened to do their best when appointed.
The exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, had 25 nominees screened, while the remaining 12 and the final list would be crossed-examined today.
There was a high level of intelligence on display by most of the nominees, especially the young technocrats, during the exercise. Some of the nominees were told to take a bow and leave.
The Speaker of the House, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, said it is a constitutional requirement for those who would work as executive members with the governor to be screened by the House.
He said: “It is a constitutional provision. We will do our best to ensure that only those who have values to add to the state are allowed to work.”
Among the 12 nominees that were screened on Thursday include: immediate past Special Adviser on Revenue & Taxation, Mr. Ade Ipaye, immediate past Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, immediate past Commissioner for Science and Technology Mr. Hamzat Obafemi and immediate past Special Adviser to the governor on Works and Infrastructure Engr. Ganiyu Johnson.
