A shoot-out between a gang of robbers and a team of Mobile policemen attached to MOPOL 20, Ikeja ensued, weekend, along Idimu/Ikotun road, leading to the death of one of the robbers.

The bandits numbering eight, as gathered, stormed one of the second generation banks around the area at about 11.30am, on four motorcycles, pretending to be customers.

But they met their Waterloo as one of the policemen, an Inspector, observed that some of them were armed . Attempt by the robbers to take the policemen by surprise, led to a gun duel which left one of them dead and another injured. In the ensuing stampede, some of the bank customers as well as passers-by sustained varying degrees of injury.

At the end of the shoot-out, two cut-to size locally- made pistols, according to Police sources, were recovered at the scene. The sources further said while the injured suspect was being treated, two other members of his gang were arrested by policemen attached to Egbeda division .
