Jigawa treats 104 TB patients

By ALIYU DANGIDA

DUTSE – NO fewer than 104 patients have been treated under the Jigawa State Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme within the last 12 months.

The State Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Nura Musa Shuaibu, said this during the opening of a two-day workshop organised by the state Ministry of Health on Tuberculosis Control for medical officers at the state Library Complex in Dutse.

He said the training was to update the doctors on the control of the disease on children; its negative effect and the management of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS infections. He explained that tuberculosis constitutes serious high morbidity and mortality rates specially as it is associated with the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Shuaibu stressed the need for more efforts in detecting the early infection of patients for treatment and management of the disease.
