Jigawa State disbures N79m to Fadama users

DUTSE Jigawa state government has disbursed the sum of over N79million to 12 Fadama Community Associations as part of its counterpart funding of the Fadama 111 project.

The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Danzomo stated this at the pre_disbursement to Fadama Community Associations (FCAs) held in Dutse.

Alhaji Idris Danzomo stated that the state government is responding to the counterpart funding of all externally financed projects Fadama II and III project inclusive, IFAD_CBARDP, Food Security programme and Sassakawa Africa Association, adding that amount of public and Sassakawa foundation funds expended on counterpart funding over the past four years has runs into several millions of naira.

He also revealed that the state has partnered the Federal government and private sector operators in the area of provision of mechanization of farming, stressed that under the arrangement 160 tractors with complete set of implements have been procured with federal government providing a subsidy of 25%, “state government supported with 10% additional subsidy apart from its mandatory 15%.”

The tractorization programme, he noted, will go a long way towards increasing tractor density in the state, thereby reducing labour productivity, reducing drudgery and transforming agriculture into mechanized agriculture as well as provide employment opportunities.
