JABU rejigs, appoints Prof Fajana VC

AS part of its rejiging efforts, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, JABU, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, has appointed a renowned scholar of labour and human resource management, Professor Sola Fajana, Vice Chancellor.

JABU started academic sessions in 2006 post-license, with the objective of providing educational services that would inculcate Godly values in its graduates, and provide them with functional education aimed at producing job creators rather than job seekers. The institution pioneered the trend for entrepreneurship education in Nigeria.

With its focus on entrepreneurship, JABU’s Governing Council, hopes tap from the vast experience of new Vice Chancellor to lead the achievement of its core objectives by the appointment of this erudite scholar.

It is expected that he would bring his UN experience to bring optimal physical and academic developments to JABU in particular and the Nigerian university system in general.

JABU was established in by the Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide in 2004, under the leadership of its President, Pastor (Dr.) E. H. L Olusheye.

The National Universities Commission, NUC, had a pilot in the JABU initiative and prescribed mandatory general studies that include entrepreneurship in the various degree programmes in Nigerian universities.

A statement by the management of the institution said, “Currently, only institution that offers a first degree in entrepreneurship studies in Nigeria.

The institution has national accreditation in over 90 percent of courses running in five colleges: Agricultural Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, as well as Social and Management Sciences. JABU released its first set of graduates in November 2010.

The university is led by Dr Oladele Olashore (Chancellor), Prof A.M.A. Imevbore (Pro-Chancellor) and Pastor C.S Fasuyi (Vice-Chairman, Governing Council). The institution is driven by core values of integrity, honesty, teamwork, quality service and humanism.

Prof Fajana whose appointment took effect from July 1, 2011 replaced Professor C. O. Oshun, the foundation Vice Chancellor, whose tenure expired in March 2011.”
