WARRI— Itsekiri Development Congress,IDC, has called on the Federal Government to site two campuses of the Petroleum Resources University in the Warri Federal Constituency, “for equity in the oil commonwealth.”
In a letter to the President, by Messrs. Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh, Solomon Iwetan and Hosanna Jalogho-Williams, David Atikpekpe, Chairman, Secretary, Public Relations Officer, respectively, yesterday, in Warri, IDC explained that it was “dissatisfied, that in spite of our strategic position of Warri in the oil and gas industry in the country, we have not only been raped of the opportunity to host the Petroleum Resources University located in any Warri area but also have been marginalised in the aspect of employment opportunities in the said institution.”
IDC urged the President to activate Koko and Warri ports, which had remained dormant and unproductive for decades to boost the economic activities of the areas, adding, “the Nigerian Ports Authority should be instructed to dredge the Escravos Bar to enable heavy vessels navigate to the ports for berthing.“
