Germany targets 6 million electric vehicles by 2030

Germany plans to have six million electric vehicles on the road by 2030, a Minister has said. Ursula Heinen-Esser, vice-minister in the Federal Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Ministry, made this known in Berlin while delivering a paper titled Transforming Germany’s energy system.

Heinen-Esser, who was speaking to a group of journalists from Asia and Africa currently attending a course on Environmental Reporting organised by the International Institute of Journalism, in the country said the government also planned to reduce energy consumption by 10 per cent by 2020.
