Asaba— DOCTORS at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, were, yesterday, battling to save the life of the only survivor of the fire incident that occurred at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, weekend, which claimed four children of same parents.
When Vanguard enquired on the boy’s condition from FMC’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Ogbogu, he said, “we are on top of the situation. The boy is receiving adequate treatment and we hope he will make it, although the burns were severe.”
The 10-year-old boy, Daniel Udemba, is the only surviving child. Three of his sisters and a three-month- old brother, who was dedicated at a special thanksgiving service by the parents a fortnight ago, all perished in the fire.
The children were sleeping while their parents were at their shops when the fire incident occurred at Ogbe-Osadi, Ogbodogwugwu quarters in Okpanam at 9p.m, Saturday.
Father of the children, Mr. Onyekwere Udemba, who runs a patent medicine shop, said the house had been razed before he was alerted.
