NO fewer than six persons met their untimely death as a cargo container fell on a commercial bus at Ore junction along Benin-Lagos express-way crushing them to death and injuring another six.
Eyewitness account said the accident occurred about 2 pm and it involved a trailer with registration marked XC 460 EKY conveying a container loaded with empty bottles and a 14 passenger commercial bus marked Edo XN 727 BEN said to be operated by Uyi Motors.
It was gathered that six persons died on the spot, while the driver of the bus and a passenger escaped unhurt.
The trailer and the commercial bus according to findings were coming from Benin end of the road and were heading for Lagos.
The container, according to eyewitness, fell from the trailer as it was attempting to manoeuvre a bad portion of the road and immediately damaged substantial part of the bus.
The combined team of men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Nigeria Police and sympathisers removed the container from the wreckage of the bus before the victims could be forcefully taken out of the bus.
Remains of deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of the State General Hospital, Ore.
The other six that sustained various degrees of injuries were later rushed to a Private Hospital -Gloryfield Hospital, Ore.
Officials of the FRSC at the scene of the crash confirmed the number of the causalities
