Coalition blasts Adoke over EFCC, ICPC merger

By Emmanuel Elebeke

Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, CACOL, has condemned the call, last week, by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, on the Federal Government to merge the Independent Corruption Practices Commission, ICPC, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Speaking through its Executive Chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran, the group said: “It is a big shame that Adoke could point out that the agencies lack adequate personnel, which has not made the work of the agencies easy and effective most times, but could not do anything about it throughout the period he held sway in that ministry.

That is an admission of incompetence and systemic failure under his watch.”

He contended that the agencies, which operated under Adoke’s Ministry of Justice, suffered more hardship by his meddlesomeness in their affairs.
