OWERRI – Imo State government has ordered the immediate evacuation of its citizens studying in University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, Borno State.
Government’s decision was made public in a release signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Media, Mr. Chinedu Offor.
Offor said Governor Okorocha took the action to save the lives of Imo citizens studying in the institution.
Vanguard investigation revealed that a senior aide of the governor had been dispatched to Maiduguri to evacuate the trapped citizens.
It was also discovered that no fewer than five luxury buses had been dispatched from Owerri to Maiduguri on the rescue mission, especially now that schools in Bornu State had been closed.
Meanwhile, Governor Okorocha has sworn-in the three remaining commissioners in the state and charged them to work tirelessly for the good of the state and its people.
He also warned them to distance themselves from all forms of corruption, adding that he would relieve them of their positions whenever they were found wanting.
