MINISTER of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, weekend, said her Ministry will use the recently completed Asaba International Airport, Delta State, as a model.
Speaking to newsmen during her inspection of the Osubi Airstrip expansion project, near Warri, the minister said: “The expansion of the runway is a good idea. It will bring more commercial activities to Warri. We just left Asaba. The Asaba Airport is a model that all the states should copy.”
Meanwhile, the Minister almost terminated the contract for the rehabilitation work at the Margret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, Cross River State, when she visited the airport for inspection, Saturday.
The Minister, who was visibly angry over the slow pace of work at the Airport, demanded to know why the workers and equipment for the work were not on site at about 12pm.
Speaking in Asaba, she said the Ministry of Aviation would not hesitate to give approval for the expansion of the airstrip as long as it meets all requirements. Osubi Airstrip was built by Shell Petroleum Development Company and commissioned in 1991.
