Arrangements by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) to arrest advertising practitioners who refused to conform to the Nigerian Code of Advertising Practice and Sales Promotion and the Nigerian Advertising Laws, Rules and Regulations has begun, as it congratulates Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria’s (AAAN) new president.
The Registrar, (APCON), Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi, has commended the election of Mr. Rufai Ladipo as the President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).
According to the Registrar, the election of Ladipo is well deserved based on the experiences he garnered as a former executive member of AAAN, Fellow of the Advertising Profession and Chairman, APCON Education Committee.
Alhaji Kankarofi who also congratulated other officials elected during the 38th AGM of the Association, admonished them to be united and work for the progress of the AAAN and the advertising profession in Nigeria.
He enjoined the newly elected executives to ensure that all advertising agencies in Nigeria are registered with the AAAN for effective monitoring and control.
The Registrar said there is need for all practitioners to be registered with APCON; a situation which he said is possible through effective collaboration between APCON and AAAN. He explained that this will help in no small measure in eliminating illegal practitioners.
He also called on the association to warn its members to desist from further violation of the ethics of the advertising profession, failure of which they will be sanctioned.
The Registrar said APCON has started arresting those who refused to conform to the Nigerian Code of Advertising Practice and Sales Promotion and the Nigerian Advertising Laws, Rules and Regulations. He urged AAAN to join APCON in the efforts to sanitize the advertising profession in Nigeria.
