MAKURDI – Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and gubernatorial returning officer at the last general elections in Benue State, Prof. Daniel Uza, has debunked allegations that he was bribed to declare Governor Gabriel Suswan winner of the election in the state.
Uza described the allegation as ridiculous, evil, wicked, unfounded and baseless, adding that he would not be distracted by such wild allegations.
The Vice-Chancellor was reacting to reports that he allegedly collected hefty money from Suswn to declare him winner of the said election in the state.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer PRO, of the university, Mr. Joseph Fanafa, the Vice Chancellor insisted that the process leading to the declaration of the result of the election was done in the most transparent manner and in the presence of party agents, local and international observers as well as security agencies.
“To put the records straight, this accusation is baseless, unfounded and based on crass ignorance and intended not only to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Prof. Uza, but also to cause mischief, ill-will and disaffection among Benue people.’
