THE Redeemed Christian Church of God, Dominion Sanctuary, recently con-cluded a month-long series of seminars, treatise and interactive sessions on the marriage institution. The theme of the programme which ran throughout the month of May, was: ‘One Flesh.” Highpoint of the programme was the 2011 Couples’ Dinner titled: “One Flesh, Couples’ Evening Out” that took place at the NECA House, Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja on May 29.
The event was graced by the provincial pastor, Lagos Province 2, Pastor Femi Atoyebi, SAN and several other dignitaries including couples, young and old, from Dominion Sanctuary as well as inv-ited couples from other churches. The event start-ed on a high note with Praise and Worship led by an invited music minister, Sis Rachael, backed by representatives of the Tehilla Choir. This was followed by God-glorifying testimony by Sis Akpomu-diare who almost lost her marital home but God intervened through an anointed man of God and restored her home in a miraculous manner.
There were lots of enter-tainment and fun includ-ing Husband and Wife of the Year competitions where Bro. Angolia eme-rged as the “Husband of the Year” and Sis Okolo as the “Wife of the Year.” Aside from the gifts from the organizers of the event, the two winners went home with the sum of $500 each, courtesy of highly-elated Pastor Atoyebi. Bro and Sister Ashaye also emerged as the “Couple of the Year” while Bro and Sis Ajayi, carted away a prize for being the first couple to arrive the venue.
There was also a “Gele tieing” and “Tie knotting” competition which attracted a lot of atten-tion from the crowd, and at the end Bro. and Sis Awosanya emerged winners. The star prize of the night was the raffle draw for an all-expenses paid one night accommo-dation at the Westown Hotel, Ikeja which went to Bro. and Sis Omoregie who were invited to the Couples’ Dinner Night from another parish.
Mention must be made of the sumptuous small-chops and the 3-course meal that was served as well as the efforts of the MCs that anchored the evening programme. They electrif-ied the evening with very cool and hilarious Christ-ian jokes.
The evening was not all frenzied laughter and entertainment; the guest minister, Dr. Okey Onuzo gave an incisive exhort-ation on “Sex, Money and Happiness in Marriage” with lots of humorous anecdotes while homing in on the Christian prin-ciples of attaining a happy marital life, which is God’s plan for the faithful be-liever.
He admonished couples to love each other spirit, soul and body by obedience to God, becoming soul mates and satisfying each other’s intimate needs. He was characteristically humo-rous in his delivery of the exhortation.
In the course of the month of May 2011, Dr. Onuzo and other anointed minist-ers of God enriched our “ACME” spiritual biblio-graphy with new ‘vocabs’. These include “hurricane spouses”, “seasons of marriage”, “battery charg-er”, etc. The 2011 Couples’ Dinner of the Dominion Sanctuary was a power-packed, fun-filled even-ing-out with a lot of entertainment while the spiritual nerves of expect-ant couples were soothed by the characteristically humorous exhortation of Dr. Onuzo.
