Jos-The Plateau State Government has said it spent over N695 million on security last year as a result of the crisis in the state.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Davou Mang, disclosed this while giving the budget breakdown for the year.
Governor Jonah Jang signed the 2011 Appropriation Bill of N86.5 billion earlier passed by the State House of Assembly into law last week.
According to him, “The recent crisis that engulfed the state has led to the diversion of resources to the maintenance of peace and security. The crisis also affected the generation of revenue with the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.”
He said notwithstanding the security challenges; the state government was determined to fulfill its promise to deliver democracy gains to the people.
