Nations Cup: Hamilton, Dike charge NFA , Siasia on preparation

BY IME BASSEY

As Nigerians look ahead to the all important Nations Cup qualifier against the Barea of Madagascar in Antananarivo, ex-internationals, Paul Hamilton and Alphonsus Dike have taken a peep into the tie with respect to camp site and preparation.

In a separate chat with Sunday Sports Vanguard from their base, they both expressed their glee on the support shown by the NFA to Coach Samson Siasia on his choice of camp site for the Super Eagles for the game.

Hamilton said, “the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the NFA has said that any where Coach Siasia wants as his camp site, that the NFA will support him. I am happy to hear that.

The former NEPA FC of Lagos player said, “with all amount of seriousness and the boys being in a good frame of mind, they will defeat Madagascar. Any slip now, will be very disadvantageous for us. Sincerely speaking, they are up to the task. Madagascar will not give us any problem,” Hamilton said.

Sparing his thought on the October 8, showdown in Abuja , the former Super Falcons Coach said, “we have an advantage because our last game will be against Guinea at home. We must do everything to get the three points with more goals so that we can qualify”.

On his part, Enugu Rangers Coach, Alponsus Dike said, “what is needed is for the NFA to ensure that everything is in place for the team. A good camp to acclimatize will be good, knowing that environmental factors play a key role in a team’s preparation for a big game. When this is not taken care off and the team losses, the blame falls on the coach. It is a welcome development when they (NFA) said they will support him”.

Commenting on both the Madagascar and Guinea matches, the former Heartland Coach said, “every game is very important for us because of the rebuilding process. It will help instill in the boys winning mentality. Siasia is doing a good job and everybody should give him the desired support he needs.

“We stand to win every game only if the team develops a winning mentality. We have to think positively and with God on our side, we will win,” Dike said.
