Igbo Progressives and United Traders Amalgamated, IPUTA, has advised Imo State Governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha, against removing the Chairman of the state Council of Chiefs, HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, from office.
Mr. Ichie Madu and Sir Mike Ukagha, President and Secretary-General, respectively, in a communiqué, noted that the call became necessary in view of the fact that Ilomuanya had used his position to help Igbo traders in Lagos and other states in Nigeria against undue victimisation and intimidation.
The group pointed out that Okorocha should reciprocate the support accorded him by its members during the April general elections by allowing Ilomuanya to remain in office till the end of his tenure.
IPUTA meanwhile, congratulated Okorocha for his victory at the poll, saying that now was the time for the governor to bring his philanthropic disposition to bear on the development of the state.
It tasked Okorocha to ensure that Imo becomes a reference point in the South East just like Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State turned his state to a reference point in the South West.
