52 athletes disqualified
No fewer than 52 athletes were disqualified by the Main Organizing Committee of the on-going National Sports festival holding in Port-Harcourt Rivers State, in the combat sports from almost all the 36 states and Abuja on the ground of being over weight at the weigh ins.

The secretary of the MOC Alhaji Abba Yusuf Yola disclosed this development to newsmen at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt Thursday.

He said that it was as a result of this development that the feeding of athletes by the Rivers State government has been regulated so as to reduce over weight cases.

Yola, who disputed an allegation made by some athletes  that they have not been feed properly since arriving on Monday noted that it was all fabricated pointing out that it was not true that they were only feed once.

He stated that once any  state presented a certificate of insurance covering of its athletes together with the receipt of payment, it must automatically get free feeding for its
atheletes and their officials.
