OSOGBO— Barely 10 years after former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige was murdered, the Osun State chapter of Justice Party has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to fish out his killers.
Late Bola Ige was murdered in his private residence in Esaoke in Osun State, State by yet-to-be identified assailants on December 23, 2001.
Osun State chairman of the party, Prince Adesoji Masilo, in a statement yesterday, charged President Jonathan to launch a fresh investigation into the killing of Ige.
Similarly, Executive Secretary, Justice Now Foundation, Alhaji Wahid Lawal, in another
statement, urged the President to unravel the killers of the former governor of Old Oyo State, stressing that “it was shameful that 10 years after, Ige’s killers still evade justice.”
His words: “President Jonathan must fish out the killers of Ige no matter how highly placed they may be. They must be brought to book whether they are currently in corridors of power or not. We have implicit faith in the judiciary to carry out an impartial trial.”
”The president must set an agenda on resolving all political killings in order to restore the confidence of Nigerians in the country.”
In Masilo’s words: “The confidence and hope of Nigerians must be restored in the country’s justice system. As the President embarks in his quest to serve, his administration would leave an indelible mark in the annals of the country if political killings in the country were resolved.”
