ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, plans to establish a sister-city relation between Abuja and the Mexico City.
Speaking at a meeting with the Mexican Ambassador to Nigeria in his office, the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Biodun Nathaniel Olorunfemi disclosed that technical officials will soon visit Mexico City to concretise the partnership arrangement. He stated that the collaboration would afford the technical officials of the two cities the opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas on the running of the two metropolitan cities.
According to Olorunfemi, the two cities have a lot to learn from one each other. He described Mexico as an emerging economy that can positively impact on Nigeria especially, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, adding that the FCT Administration will also encourage business community in Abuja to visit Mexico and find possible ways of investment.
The Mexican Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Luis Alberto Barrero Stahl who described Abuja as a beautiful and wonderful city where opportunities abound, promised to support the FCT Administration to build capacity in running the City. He said his country will collaborate with Nigeria on economy, trade and infrastructure as well as oil exploration.
