Falcons coach needs help, says Ntiero

Nigeria’s Falcons are in the middle of their training tour in Austria ahead of the FIFA Women World Cup starting June 25 in Germany. But former team coach Effiong Ntiero has advised the Nigeria Football Federation to beef up the bench of the team for better results.

Ntiero who led the team to 2007 FIFA Women World Cup in China stated that current coach, Eucheria Uche needs inputs from more experienced coaches who would help her scout opponents, analyse matches at the world cup.

“Uche is a good coach, but she cannot do it alone. She needs to surround herself with experienced coaches who will help analyse situation and advise on strategies. From what I’m seeing we are still relaying on old players and doing things the way we use to do it.”

Nigeria play France in their first match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sinsheim on 26th June, with games against hosts Germany in Frankfurt on 30th June and against Canada in Dresden to follow in Group A.

A shock defeat in the hands of Ghana’s Princess that meant elimination from the 10th All-Africa Games sparked calls for the reevaluation of the Falcons coaching crew. But the NFF kept faith with coach in sense that changes would affect the make up of the team.
