BENIN CITY – Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has flayed what it described as the alleged appointment of a student as acting Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (AAU).
In a statement, by its Director of Publicity, Okharedia Ihimekpen, the party said:“On behalf of the general public, we call on Governor Adams Oshiomhole, visitor to the univerity, to use his good office to protect the academic intregity of the university, which is daily being bastardised and in order not to reduce the worth of the university’s Ph.D. degrees further.”
According to PDP, “In a recent release by the School of Post-Graduate Studies, SPS, of the state-owned university, (Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma) for an update on the list of all registered students, (registered students who have paid fees up-to-date and registered for the session), the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor C. A. Agbebaku, was the first on the list as a Ph.D. student from the Faculty of Law.
Her Matriculation Number is AAU/SPS/90/198. The release was signed by the Secretary to the School of Post-Graduate Studies, one Mr. M. Egwakhide.
“We call on the Governor (Visitor to the University) Mr. Oshiomhole to respect the academic integrity of the university to replace her and allow the university a free hand to appoint its own Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the set rules.
