Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida has said that the attitude of the national team to always put itself in tight corners in most of their qualifying matches for major tournaments is not good for them.
Speaking at the Kanu Testimonial match at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, the former Ajax Amsterdam winger however, said he knows that the team will get it right now and qualify.
“It is very bad and not good for the team to always be in this kind of situation. They have now pushed us to the wall, they do not have any option than to do what they always know how to do best. Nigeria always gets it right at the last moment, I am sure they will get it right this time around,” he said.
Asked if he is sure the team will qualify for the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea, the former Roda JC player said, “I think they will qualify, hundred percent sure. We will win the game against Madagascar 2-1.”
Commenting on the tie at home against Guinea, the former VVV Venlo star said “We have never lost at home for a long time now, so we will beat the Guineans at home.”
He appealed to the present Super Eagles squad to venture in making the Nigerian flag fly higher in the football world. “They should fight really hard to bring Nigeria higher to its rightful place,” Babangida added.
