Basketball enthusiasts in Lagos would have more than they ever bargained for when the DSTV final eight league kicks off at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
The Local Organising Committee has promised spectators a swell time when the event eventually kicks off. From June 20. The event ends June 27th.
Babs Ogunmade, chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association who doubles as the chairman of the LOC for the event said the primary objective of the LOC was to make the event a memorable one for all who turn up for the basketball spectacle.
“All hands must be on deck,” Ogunmade charged all Lagosians, adding that “our task is to put together a credible basketball event. The essence is to get it right organisationally.”
Another member of the LOC, Ayo Bakare said there was a lot of work going on in the background. Said he, “what we are doing now is to ensure all the relevant aspects that will make the event a success are not spared. We have been able to secure a standard court from Milo and that alone has done fifty per cent of the internal decor because the floor comes with a lot of things.”
Spectators have been favoured in the arrangements being put together. “There will be free food and drinks and possibly other mouth-watering incentives that will make them remember this for a long time to come.”
